The Long Term Vision

What The Idea Has Grown Into:The long term aim of the project is to find a mostly wooded site that can act as a sanctuary/retreat supporting all aspects of bi-polar and related long term mental health conditions. It will be split into two main areas :-

CRISIS:-   A small secluded dwelling area supporting people experiencing mania/psychosis  who want to try to avoid the need for hospital. Here trained 'friends' - who will be mainly peers with perhaps one  'professional' -  will give support to 'guests' experiencing a relapse into mania/psychosis, using similar methods to those developed by Mosher at Soteria House centred on 'being with'. Support will be 24hr per day when necessary
.
HEALTH AND WELL-BEING:-   A much larger area including allotments, poly-tunnels, low impact buildings for art/crafts/workshops, dwellings for extended stays. A place for a wide range of therapeutic activities, staffed mainly by volunteers helping those with depression, anxiety, having difficulties trying to withdraw from medication, in recovery from the crisis area or trying to avoid a relapse. It will support the 'crisis' area with food, washing etc and funding.
